1. Document

• A document is the basic unit of data in MongoDB.

• It is stored in a JSON-like format (internally BSON – Binary JSON) that supports nested fields, arrays, and different data types.

• Each document is essentially a key-value pair structure, similar to a dictionary or object in programming languages.

• Documents are flexible: two documents in the same collection don’t need to have the exact same fields or structure.

• Every document has a unique _id field which acts as the primary key.
