Server-Side Rendering (SSR) in React is a technique where React components are rendered into HTML on the server instead of the browser. Normally, React apps use Client-Side Rendering (CSR), where the browser downloads a blank HTML page with JavaScript, then React builds the UI dynamically. This can cause slower initial load times and poor SEO because search engines may not see the full content immediately.

With SSR, when a client requests a page, the server runs the React code, generates the full HTML for that page, and sends it to the browser. The browser displays content instantly, and then React “hydrates” the page by attaching event listeners, making it interactive.

🔹 Advantages of SSR:

  1. Faster initial load – Users see content quicker since HTML is pre-rendered.

  2. Better SEO – Search engines can crawl complete HTML pages.

  3. Improved performance on slow devices – Less processing required on the client.

🔹 Disadvantages:

  • Increased server load (server must render pages for each request).

  • More complex setup compared to CSR.

🔹 Example: Frameworks like Next.js make SSR easy by providing methods like getServerSideProps().

✅ Summary: SSR in React means rendering pages on the server for faster load times, SEO benefits, and better user experience, while React hydration ensures interactivity after the page loads.
